Designed by Laurent Cordelle, the Dufour 1800 is a fast small cruiser that is fairly typical of the middle years of Dufour design, with a full-bodied hull topped by a square looking coach roof. It has four berths, including a separate fore cabin ahead of a midships heads compartment. The fractional rig gives easy handling with good performance. This outboard version uses a well in the back of the cockpit for the  outboard engine to sit in .
